Competitors like Serena Deeb and Portia Perez who came to SHIMMER during '06 started to make stronger impressions during their second year with the company.

NOMINATION PROCESS BEGINS FOR INDY DIVAS 2007 AWARDS
----------------------------------------------------------

Courtesy of the Indy Divas Yahoo Group
http://ca.groups.yahoo.com/group/indydivas

Brian Reese of the Indy Divas Yahoo Group is now accepting nominations for The 2007 Indy Divas Awards. All of the details are below. You'll need to join the Indy Divas Yahoo Group if you'd like to participate.

Greetings to you, one and all!

At the indy women's wrestling YAHOO! site called Indy Divas, I am currently accepting nominations in the following categories
(including perhaps a couple of new ones) for the 2007 Indy Divas Awards...

WRESTLER OF THE YEAR:

MANAGER/VALET OF THE YEAR:

FACE OF THE YEAR:

HEEL OF THE YEAR:

BABE OF THE YEAR:

HARDCORE WRESTLER OF THE YEAR:

MOST IMPROVED WRESTLER OF THE YEAR:

TAG TEAM OF THE YEAR:

FEUD OF THE YEAR:

MATCH OF THE YEAR (if at all possible, please give the date of the match & the name of the wrestling promotion that the female combatants wrestled in):

PROMOTION OF THE YEAR (could be either an all women's wrestling promotion or a promotion that heavily promotes female wrestling):

INDY WRESTLING PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR:

and the big one.....

THE 2007 INDY DIVA OF THE YEAR!!!

The period covered for the 2007 Indy Diva Awards is from November 1st, 2006 through October 31st, 2007.

You can cast your votes beginning today November 6th and they will last until Tuesday, December 4th.

Also, at this time, I will be taking your suggestions for perhaps some other categories that I might take some consideration for the possibility of adding a few more categories at the 2007 Indy Divas Awards.

If you would like to cast your vote, you can E-mail your nominations and suggestions to me, Brian Reese at: bspidey1972@yahoo.com or you can post your nominations here: http://ca.groups.yahoo.com/group/indydivas

If you do decide to cast your votes on Indy Divas, you must become a member and join to cast your vote.

You can do that by clicking on the Indy Divas link above.

Also, please keep this in mind: ONLY ONE VOTE PER NOMINEE PER GROUP MEMBER PLEASE, so there's absolutely no need for you to "stuff" the ballot box!

For the last two years, Indy Divas has had the Top 5 nominees for each and every category to qualify for several polls that either had been or that were conducted in the aforementioned categories listed above, right?

Well, instead of having the Top 5 nominees to qualify, this year Indy Divas are going to have 6 nominees!!!

The Top 6 nominees in each category will qualify for the poll that will be conducted in each category in polls to be officially conducted beginning on Tuesday, December 11th once all the votes have been officially accumulated and tabulated by me on Monday, December 10th.

Your votes will determine the winners.

Also, I will announce at the end of 2007 Indy Divas Awards somewhat a personal Indy Divas Award Of Achievement.

This will be presented to an indy female wrestling personality of my very own choosing.

I WANT EVERYBODY TO PLEASE READ AND TO UNDERSTAND THE FOLLOWING BEFORE YOU CAST YOUR VOTES!

NOT EVERYBODY WHOM YOU VOTE FOR WILL QUALIFY!

That is going to be determined by the majority of votes that the female indy wrestling personality or personalities of your choice receives to qualify in the many categories that were listed above at the 2007 Indy Divas Awards.

Basically, that is the way the proverbial ball bounces.

There are perhaps some of you out there may feel that some of your favorite female indy wrestling personalities are being either left out or that are being snubbed once the final tally of accumulated votes are made in the process of naming official nominees in the categories at the 2007 Indy Divas Awards.

That is NOT the case here whatsoever. You can be rest assured on that.

I DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT want to hear any whining, crying or complaining from you or by anybody on here about things such as the naming of categories, what the true meaning or integrity of the categories being named are supposed to be, who really should have been voted in or whom you feel should deserve to be in this category or that category like some of you did last year.

Please understand, everybody, there are millions upon millions of females that are managers/valets and/or wrestlers that are a part of several wrestling events and organizations along the indy wrestling circuit the entire world over.

There are some ladies that you may go see on a regular or monthly basis at wrestling shows where you live while there are hundreds upon thousands of millions that others see on a regular or monthly basis at wrestling shows all over in other parts of the United States as well as in other parts of the world.

There are some female indy wrestling personalities out there that you may immediately recognize just by the mention of their name(s), then again there are probably some female indy wrestling personalities that you may have never even heard of before.

Therefore, not every single female along the indy wrestling circuit will make it,so please be sure to keep that in mind.

Besides, this is all supposed to be for fun, isn't it?

Also, NO BASHING for the ladies that do qualify.

If you do bash any of them in any way, shape, form or fashion, then you can kiss your membership here at Indy Divas good-bye because as far as any bashing of any ladies here at Indy Divas that are either in independent wrestling or on the mainstream level of wrestling is concerned, it's absolute ZERO TOLERANCE.

Every female that is a part of wrestling deserves the utmost of
respect, regardless as to whom that female may be.

The way it is basically is the way your parents told you probably when you were younger, which is:

"IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING NICE TO SAY ABOUT ANYBODY OR ANYTHING, DO NOT SAY IT AT ALL"!

Also, for some of our group members, please be advised that your messages at Indy Divas are moderated, meaning that they are subject towards final approval.

So, in closing, I would like to ask all of you whom that are fans of independent women's wrestling to please cast your vote for your favorite female indy wrestling personalities for the 2007 Indy Divas Awards at Indy Divas!

http://ca.groups.yahoo.com/group/indydivas

PLEASE BE SURE TO VOTE BECAUSE REMEMBER THAT OLD SAYING.....

(IF YOU) DON'T VOTE........DON'T GRIPE........DON'T COMPLAIN!

I personally would like to wish all of the female indy wrestling personalities across the indy wrestling circuit the very best of luck.

THANK YOU, EVERYBODY! LET'S BE NICE OUT THERE, EVERYBODY AND LET'S BE NICE TO EACH OTHER,OK?

IT IS NOW TIME TO CAST YOUR NOMINATIONS AND YOUR VOTES AT THE 2007 INDY DIVAS AWARDS!

PLEASE DO SO RIGHT NOW!!!

Sincerely,
Brian Reese
Group Owner

GEORGIA WRESTLING NEWS, NOTES, AND NOSTALGIA: 11/06/2007‏

NEWS

We learned late last night that All-Star Championship Wrestling has made a decision to cancel the event they had planned in Carrollton, GA, on November 8. In a message from promoter Rock Parsons: “I tried for the last 3 months to come up with a huge show. But after 3 straight attempts of having card changes I believe the people of Carrollton are wondering what won't happen this time. So with less than 3 dozen tickets sold in advance and with 10 big names on the card. We won't be running the 8th. I knew awhile back that we were running too close to other groups and after the Bullet missed the first show, the Cage & Atlas the 2nd, and Morton the 3rd that this would be a problem. Also I think being only 8 miles from a weekly show is a mistake. I hope to return to several towns in the spring. I have decided to have a back surgery that I have put off for 6 months. This will also give our TV sometime to play. Thanks to all of you who came out and I will post website info.”

It was reported late yesterday that Dr. Phil C. Astin III, still under house arrest and under indictment for charges of overprescribing medication to Chris Benoit and Michael Durham (a/k/a Johnny Grunge), wrote four prescriptions of painkillers within a twenty-five day span during March 2005 for Durham. Two of those were for sixty 350mg Somas on March 3 and 7 of 2005. The investigation has shown that Astin signed off on thirty-two of the last thirty-six prescriptions in which Durham had received prior to his death in February 2006. There was also a period in November 2005 where Astin signed for two prescriptions of 100 painkillers each and six days apart for Durham. Further findings show that Astin was one of eleven physicians to prescribe medication to Durham between 1999 and his death. Astin’s initial legal representative, Manny Arora, requested to be removed from the case on September 26, citing indigence on Astin’s part since he could no longer work. The following day, Astin was appointed public defender Virginia Natasha Perdew-Silas, who has not commented publicly since taking over his defense. Astin filed for bankruptcy last month.

After months of speculation, the Southside Trash has confirmed to GWH that they are indeed returning to the ring in 2008. The SST has been a favorite heel team on the Georgia scene for several years, in two different lineups, with Rowdy Matiz being the constant, and it appears both of his former partners, Razor and Big Daddy, will be joining him. “I will be returning to the ring very soon,” said Matiz. “I will be teaming up with Razor. Big Daddy will be our manager. The new original Southside Trash: Rowdy and Razor, with Big Daddy. I've got quite a few plans up my sleeves.” Razor was Rowdy’s original partner, and Big Daddy joined up later. After Big Daddy suffered a back injury, the team ended, and Matiz made the decision to retire.

Southern Extreme Championship Wrestling results from Villa Rica, GA, on November 4: Kyle Matthews over Tony Black; the Regular Guys over Bruce Biggins & Todd Zane by disqualification; Frankie Valentine over Adrian Hawkins; Cru Jones & the Super Destroyer over Scotty Blaze & the Nightmare; and Bull Buchanan over Bulldog Raines to win the SECW Heavyweight Title. No attendance was reported for this card. Josh Stone was credited as being a referee. Buchanan substituted for Tommy Rich. Our reports say nothing regarding an explanation, if any, why Rich wasn’t in the match.

AWA World-1 South returns to action on December 22, at the Oconee Gym in Dublin, GA, raising funds for the Dublin Tipoff Club. Matches begin at 7:30 PM. Call (866) 244-0104 for more info. Just added to the previously announced matches are Tommy Rich versus Big Bank Barfield; Shawn Hunter versus Kevin Kantrell; and Lance Alonte versus Q-Ball. Other matches previously advertised: The Heartbreak Express defend the AWA World Tag Team Title versus K.I. Elite (Shawn Hunter & Jake Slater); and Francisco Ciatso will defend the World-1 South Southern Heavyweight Title versus Dave Holiday. Mike Stratus is also scheduled to appear.

NOTES

Georgia Wrestling History would like to wish a happy birthday today to Ken Patera (65) and Dave Prazak, whose age is unknown to us.

As we reported above, the Southside Trash is planning a return to Georgia rings next year. If you have never seen this team, make plans to do so once dates are announced. These guys are the best heel tag team in the business, including anyone in WWE, TNA, ROH, etc. They combine a solid old school wrestling style with a bit of comedy thrown in, and the fans love to hate them. 1963: Luke Graham & Al Galento defeated Lonnie Brown & Bob Morrow in the final round of a tournament for the vacant Southeastern Tag Team Title at the Columbus Municipal Auditorium for promoter Fred Ward. At the time, Ward was not affiliated with the Atlanta office of Georgia Championship Wrestling. He had split from his partnership in July 1963. It is said that the reasons were over booking fees to use the talent sent in by the Atlanta office. The partnership was renewed and resumed in March 1964. Other teams in the tournament included Jack Bence & Ronnie Hill and Bob Eisenburg & the Inferno.

1964: A title match between Southern Tag Team Champions Eddie Graham & Sam Steamboat and the Mysterious Medics was ruled a no contest at the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Paul Jones. It is unclear as to how Graham & Steamboat came to be recognized as champions. The last reference we have shows the Kentuckians defending the title against Lenny Montana & Gypsy Joe on November 23, 1962, in Atlanta. A title match involving Georgia Heavyweight Champion Sputnik Monroe and Mario Galento ended the same, with Monroe retaining the title. Monroe had been the reigning Georgia Heavyweight Champion since he defeated Don Fargo on October 16, 1964, in Atlanta.

1973: Bob Armstrong defeated Stan Vachon to retain the Southeastern Heavyweight Title at the Macon Coliseum for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Fred Ward. It is unclear at this time how Armstrong came to be recognized as champion. The last reference we have found shows him and Buddy Colt in a title match on September 5, 1973, in Columbus, and there was no indication as to which was defending the title. Also, Bobby Shane & Gorgeous George, Jr., defeated Tim Woods & Mr. Wrestling #2 to win the Macon Tag Team Title. Woods & Wrestling #2 had been the reigning champions since they defeated the Super Infernos, managed by J.C. Dykes, on October 30, 1973, in Macon. In the main event, Roberto Soto & Bobo Brazil defeated Bobby Duncum & Bill Watts.

1977: Ric Flair defeated US Heavyweight Champion Ricky Steamboat by disqualification in a title match at the Savannah Civic Center for Jim Crockett Promotions promoter Aaron Newman. Because of the disqualification, Steamboat retained the title. Steamboat had been the reigning champion since he defeated Flair on October 21, 1977, in Charleston, SC. 1979: Tommy Rich defeated Killer Karl Kox, managed by Bobby Heenan, to retain the Georgia Heavyweight Title at the Macon Coliseum for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Fred Ward. It was advertised that Rich would get five minutes in the ring with Heenan if he won, but there were no details provided afterward. Rich had been the reigning champion since he defeated Kox on October 26, 1979, in Atlanta.

1983: Tommy Rich defeated Ted DiBiase by disqualification in the main event at the Omni Auditorium for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Paul Jones. It is unclear as to how the match between Rich and DiBiase came about. Harley Race was advertised rather than DiBiase. Race claims he was not booked, but Ole Anderson claims he was scheduled to defend the NWA World Heavyweight Title versus Rich. Also, a title match between National Tag Team Champion Road Warriors, managed by ‘Precious’ Paul Ellering, and Brett Sawyer & Dusty Rhodes ended in a double disqualification, thus no title change. Jake Roberts, also managed by Ellering, defeated Ron Garvin to win the National Television Title.

2004: A.J. Steele defeated Bull Buchanan in a match to determine which would have the right to claim the GCW Tag Team Title at the GCW Sports Arena in Columbus for Georgia Championship Wrestling. OFFICIAL RESULTS FOR PWO Ep. 1; Original Airdate: November 3, 2007

Pro Wrestling Ohio's debut episode on Sports Time Ohio gave wrestling fans everything they could have hoped for, and then some. Not only was there solid action in the ring, but lots of suprises, and an ending that left us wanting more. Joe Dombrowski and Jamie Scott called the action from inside The Lakewood Masonic Temple.

V-2 (Virus & Virus Grande) vs. The Cut Throat Crew-
PWO management could not have chosen a better match to start it's first episode. "Bloody" Morty Rackem and "Ruthless" Rufio Rapier, together known as "The Cut Throat Crew," took on the new tandem of Virus and Virus Grande, V-2. We all remember Virus from the tag team "Q and A." We here at PWO did not even know a Virus "Grande" existed until recently. Combine that this was also the first we have seen of the two pirates on STO, it made for an interesting bout.

The match started out with "The Cut Throat Crew" firmly in control. Both Rackem and Rapier worked together well, executing a nice series of double team manuevers on "V-2." But with Virus cheap veteran tactics, along with the help of the mysterious Virus Grande, it didn't take long for the two to take control. Virus was doing well, until Rackem avoided a moonsault attempt. He followed that up with an enzuguri, and made the tag.

"The Cut Throat Crew" were cleaning house. At one point, Rapier threw Grande to the concrete floor, and executed a perfect suicide dive. Back on the inside, Morty Rackem connected with "The Roll of the Dice" on the original Virus. Rapier was cut off by Virus Grande suddenly, and pushed into the steel ring pole on the outside. This gave Grande just enough time to shake the ropes, crotching Rackem, who was attempting an arial manuever. Virus made the pinfall, Grande held the legs, and the ref didn't see it, counting the three. V-2 steals the first win in PWO history. But the pirates were not going to take this loss lightly...

Hobo Joe attacked!-
He's never been known as the cleanest, the best looking, or the nicest smelling on Sports Time Ohio. Hobo Joe was scheduled for in ring competion. Unfortunatly, whatever match PWO management had set up never took place. This was due to the appearance of Aaron Mcguire, agent of the massive Cronus.

"PARDON THE INTERRUPTION!"

That was the scream that echoed throughout the Masonic Temple from Mcguire, as Cronus hopped the barricade and delivered a powerful kick to the face of Hobo. "Homeless Joe gets a spot on National TV?!" Mcguire didn't think that spot was deserving, nor did Cronus. The 6' 2", 285 pound monster threw Hobo Joe up on his shoulders with ease, and hit him with his signature manuever, the F-5. As quickly as the two arrived, they vanished through the curtain just as fast. The PWO fans in attendance realized that Cronus certainly is going to be a force to be reckoned with.

Gregory Iron vs. Johnny Gargano-
Johnny Gargano proved that he is indeed one of the most self centered, uncaring individuals on the PWO roster. On August 5th, 2007, Gregory Iron was hit with mutiple suplexes and a powerbomb inside a wrestling ring. These actions gave Iron a sezuire, a concussion, and hemmoraging from the brain. "If Greg would of went to sleep that night, he would have died," said Gargano in a pre-match promo."So why didn't you just go to sleep?!" "The Unique One" stated that the return of Iron would be a short one, and that by the end of tonights match, Gregory Iron would end up back in the hospital. Add to the fact that Johnny was to be accompanied by his partner in crime, Josh Prohibition, and the odds weren't good.

The twenty year old prodigy started off dominating Iron, trying to kick him in the head from the start. After taking light of him, Iron quickly school boyed Gargano for a near fall. But Iron made the mistake of trying for his diving clothesline into a facebuster one too many times, as on the second attempt, Josh Prohibition grabbed Iron by the foot. This led to a ugly lung blower to the back of Iron, and put Gargano back in the driver seat. The multiple chops and all around malicious double team assault from Gargano and Probo seemed to be wearing the kid with cerebral paulsy down. After a fifth attempt at a shoulder tackle, Gregory rolled out, leaving Johnny's shoulder to collide with the unforgiving steel post. The two fired shots back and forth, and Iron hit a quick back elbow and knee to the face. But the comeback was stopped by a back kick to the gut of Iron. Gargano then hoisted up Gargano for a powerbomb, the same manuever that nearly costed Iron his life. With seemingly nothing left, Iron hit Gargano with three shots to the face, and delivered a code red to Gargano. Gregory Iron kept Gargano down for a three count, and the upset nobody expected, except maybe Iron himself, occured. Gregory Iron defeated Johnny Gargano.

Prohibition and Gargano chased Iron to the back, visciously attacking him. That is until Matt Cross made the save, with steel chair in hand.

"Dude, where's our car?!"-
Later on in the evening, "The Cut Throat Crew" seized the opportuity to avenge the lost they suffered at the hands of "V-2." As Virus and Virus Grande quietly slept in their lockerroom, Rackem and Rapier snuck in, covering them with a pirate flag. Using his trusty sword, Rufio grabbed the keys to V-2's ride, and took off. Virus and Virus Grande quickly realized what occured, and chased after the pirates. But they were too late, as the last image they saw was that of "The Cut Throat Crew" riding away in V-2's brand new mini-van. It is safe to say the fued these two teams has only just begun.

"M-Dogg 20" Matt Cross vs. "Fabulous" John McChesney-
Matt Cross and John McChesney were set to square off in what could of possibly been one of the best matches to come out of the Ohio area in quite sometime. McChesney has worked in TNA and WWE on several occasions, and Matt Cross starred on MTV's "Wrestling Society X." Needless to say, this had all the makings to be an instant classic. The match started quickly, with neither man getting a clear cut advantage. Dombrowski and Scott were enthralled by the confrontation, as were the fans in attendance. Unfortunatly, after roughly five minutes, we would not get a clear cut conclusion. Johnny Gargano and Josh Prohibition stormed the ring, hammering away on both McChesney and Matt Cross. The referee had no other choice but to throw the match out, ruling it a no-contest.

"M-Dogg" and McChesney were obviously furious, and wanted desperately to get their hands on Probo and Gargano. McChesney even went as far as saying he wanted them right there tonight! That was not in the cards, however, as the show was out of time. As the cocky Prohibition and Gargano fled, Matt Cross and John McChesney stood out around the ringside area, pacing among themselves. The show came to a close with chants of "LET THEM FIGHT! LET THEM FIGHT!" from the crowd.

It was a shame the main event for the first edition of PWO on STO had to end the way it did. McChesney and Cross were anxious to compete amongst each other, but now they are focused on getting their chance at Josh Prohibition and Johnny Gargano. Will PWO management grant them that chance? There is only one way to find out, and that's by checking out the brand new episode of Pro Wrestling Ohio when it debuts on November 17th.
