From The Desk of Tod Gordon: PWU SATURDAY - champion Too Cold Scorpio v Joey Matthews‏

PERHAPS THE PREMIERE MATCH LEFT ON THE INDY CIRCUIT

FROM THE DESK OF TOD GORDON

If you were to scour the country to try and find the two most talented WRESTLERS that are not currently under contract to either the WWE or TNA, I believe you’d be hard pressed to find anyone out there of the caliber of 2 COLD SCORPIO and JOEY MATTHEWS. Their first encounter was on its way to becoming a mat classic until it was ruined by the interference of DAN SEVERN, DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE, AND THE SANDMAN. This Saturday night the fans of Pro Wrestling Unplugged have my guarantee that there will be absolutely NO outside interference. There will be no time limit. If they hit the 60 minute mark, and these two are capable of such, so be it. The match will continue until someone either submits or has his shoulders pinned to the mat. We intend to give our title the respect it deserves.

The moment any fan who regularly supports a hometown fed has been waiting for : This Saturday night, at The New Alhambra, formerly known as The ECW Arena, one of YOU FANS WILL BECOME THE NEW COMISSIONER OF PWU. The wait is over, and either, Loud Fan, The White Board Mafia, Stephanie, The PWU Kliq, or Chris Calloway will become the first legit fan to have all of the powers of a pro wrestling commissioner. (except having the ability to fire me). The number of votes submitted has overwhelmed all of us and the crowning moment will come this Sat. night.

Onto the matches. Two quarter final matches for our TV TITLE pits rising star ARAMIS as he battles T.J. CANNON. The other quarter final match pits the man who turned his back on the fans and wrestlers alike DEVON MOORE vs. TRENT ACID. If you’ve ever seen these two against each other before, you know that these two individuals genuinely dislike each other to the point where tables, chairs, and yes, even scaffolds have been a regular staple of their past encounters. EDDIE KINGSTON’S next opponent was to be Brandon Thomaselli and Z-BARR’S next opponent was to have been Detox. Both of them have withdrawn from the tournament for various reasons allowing Kingston and Barr to believe they have the night off. Not so !! Instead, we will present our first semi-final match of the tournament as EDDIE KINGSTON and Z-BARR will fight it out this Saturday to see who will be one half of the final match to be held in December for the TV Title. These two have been beating on each other a lot lately and this Saturday, one of them goes onto the title match.

Speaking of titles, newly crowned women’s champion ANNIE SOCIAL defends her belt for the first time. Her opponent will be SARA DEL RAY. Sara has told anyone who will listen that Annie is a one hit wonder and she plans to leave Philadelphia with the gold.

After the events from the last show, a special grudge match has been ordered between JOHN McCHESNEY and ADAM, um, ADAM… well I’m sure you know his name.

November 3rd in Feasterville saw a shocking turn of events as ALL MONEY IS LEGAL viciously attacked new tag team champions THE BOSSOM BUDDIES, TEDDY FINE AND DREW BLOOD. Be careful what you wish for AMIL, as you will get your coveted title match, but Fine and Blood aren’t going to be too jovial this night as they have revenge on their minds. Former 1PW Champion out of the U.K., James Wallace will wrestle here in the states as he meets for the first time none other than JUSTICE PAIN.

SAY GOODBYE TO A HARDCORE LEGEND. Fans on the East Coast will have this one last opportunity to say goodbye to a hardcore legend as the innovator of the TAI-PAE death match, MR. IAN ROTTEN wrestles for the last time in the hallowed Arena he helped build. If you’ve ever been entertained or even sickened for that matter by one of Ian’s matches, we ask you to come out and bid farewell to this retiring superstar. Let him know by your attendance what he’s meant to you over the last two decades.

There will be more fun and surprises this Saturday night, November the 17th, with a bell time of 7:30. Come on out and EXPERIENCE THE DIFFERENCE that is PRO WRESTLING UNPLUGGED. For more info and directions to the building check out www.prowrestlingunplugged.com. See you all Saturday night.

Click here for Larry Goodman’s report from Sunday night’s Southern Extreme Championship Wrestling card in Villa Rica, GA.

Ultimate Christian Wrestling results from Canton, GA, on November 10: Brian Lawler & Billy Jack over Truitt Fields & Colt Derringer to retain the UCW Tag Team Title; Hayden Young over UCW National Heavyweight Champion Rob Adonis by disqualification in a title match; Todd Zane & War Daddy over Bruce Biggins & Enigma; and a three-way match for the UCW Heavyweight Title featuring Dustin Powers, Justin Dirt, and Kyle Matthews went to a draw. It was reported that 133 were in attendance for this card.

NOTES

When All-Star Championship Wrestling cancelled their 11/8 show in nearby Carrollton just three days prior to the event, owner Rock Parsons made an Internet post indirectly accusing rival promoters of tearing down a large percentage of his posters. Scott East indicated that businesses in Carrollton are down on posters in general, and Southern Extreme Championship Wrestling has also encountered difficulty with keeping their posters up.

STATE OF THE UNION #18

UIPW News for 14 Nov 2007

HEADLINES

~ More information for "END OF DAYS" on December 15th

~ "The High Risk Hero" sustains serious injury

~ UNION schedule for early 2008 announced

THE "END OF DAYS" IS APPROACHING

Hatred and jealousy boiled over at the UNION's CE2K7 show, when STEVE CORINO won the UNION Heavyweight title only to be attacked by SEBASTIAN DARK. Now, these two men will face each other one-on-one with championship gold on the line.

The UNION of INDEPENDENT PROFESSIONAL WRESTLERS returns to Royal Canadian Legion Hall #101 in Toronto, Ontario on Saturday December 15th for "END OF DAYS", our year-ending event. Doors open at 630pm. Bell time is 7pm.

In addition to the huge grudge match main event between Corino and Dark, The UNION is planning a spectacular card to bring 2007 to a close. The UNION Heavyweight champion will need an official number one contender going into 2008 and "UNION Boss" ANTHONY KINGDOM JAMES has decided to hold a 4-man tournament to choose who gets that spot. The first name entered into this "Fight To Be First" mini-tournament is a familiar one for UNION supporters: PEPPER PARKS.

Pepper was forced out of the UNION title tournament at CE2K7 when referee CJ SENSATION was forced to stop his second round match against Steve Corino. Parks had absorbed three massive piledrivers from "Big Rig" BRODIE LEE at the end of their first round fight and Sensation ruled that he was unable to adequately defend himself any longer.

Parks, who recently won the NWA National Heavyweight championship, will now get a second chance at the UNION Heavyweight title if he can win "The Fight To Be First".

Also, rumors are swirling about a big happening in the UNION's tag team division and a big announcement is expected in next week's "SotU" news release.

Tickets are ON SALE NOW in person at the Legion Hall and online via the "UNION SHOP" at www.wrestlersunion.ca . The Legion Hall is located at 3850 Lake Shore Blvd West, midway between Dixie Road and Brown's Line and directly adjacent to both the Long Branch GO station and the TTC's Long Branch Loop. The event is open to ALL AGES, but for those 19 and older, the Legion Hall includes a FULLY LICENSED BAR. Fans are reminded to bring valid ID and encouraged to use public transit if they plan to purchase alcohol.

"THE HIGH RISK HERO" SUSTAINS SERIOUS INJURY

The UNION's best wishes for a speedy recovery go out to Northern Lights Division star RIP IMPACT. Impact, wrestling on an LLWA event in Hamilton, Ontario this past Friday night, suffered both a broken tibia and fibula which required surgical repair over the weekend. Rip will be out of action for a minimum of 3 months and everyone involved in the Union is looking forward to seeing Impact competing again in 2008.

Fans wishing to send along their own best wishes to Rip are encouraged to do so by e-mailing wrestlersunion@gmail.com and we will forward them to "The High Risk Hero".

CALENDAR OF UPCOMING EVENTS

Saturday JANUARY 12th - The 1st Annual NORTHERN LIGHTS CLASSIC

Saturday FEBRUARY 23rd - title to be announced

Saturday MARCH 15th - BEWARE THE IDES!!!

Saturday APRIL 19th - title to be announced

In the tradition of New Japan's Best of the Super Juniors, ECWA's Super 8 tournament and ECCW's Pacific Cup, the UNION will hold its first annual cruiserweight tournament, the NORTHERN LIGHTS CLASSIC, this coming January. The UNION is working to make sure that not just the best of our own cruiserweight talent but some of the best cruiserweight talent in the world. More news on the tournament and the talent involved will be released starting next week.
