A 93-year-old man and his 85-year-old girlfriend are set to become Britain's oldest newly-weds after a whirlwind romance.

James Mason and his bride-to-be Peggy Clark hadn't even met each other until last month, reports Sky News.

But when they first bumped into each other at a day-care centre in Paignton, Devon, it was love at first sight.

"It's a miracle. I'm in a dream," said Peggy. "I feel like I'm going to wake up in a minute.

"When I introduced myself, he was the last one. There was silence and I looked at him and asked: 'Do you come here often?' I couldn't believe I'd said that!

"His eyes were twinkling. The eyes are the windows to the soul and when you look you can tell. I knew instantly but I couldn't say because he would think I was picking him up."

James added: "I thought she was a bit of alright. The twinkle was in my eyes, I can tell you! It was love at first sight."

After just three days of courting James popped the question.

"I thought I'd better grab her when I could because we didn't want to live in sin," he said.
