Playwright HAROLD PINTER has slammed director PAUL GREENGRASS for his "totally unreal" film THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM.

The 77-year-old Nobel Prize winner praised the filmmaker's earlier dramas Bloody Sunday and United 93, but said he couldn't understand how Greengrass could respect the 2007 spy caper.

He says, "I saw a film, The Bourne Ultimatum, and I thought: 'F**king hell! This guy is clearly the strongest man in the world. He can beat up about 12 people in about 35 seconds and kill half of them.'

"The whole thing is totally unreal. I was stupefied by it. It was so lacking in intelligence."
