The U.S. version of hit TV comedy LITTLE BRITAIN is the latest small screen casualty of the Hollywood writers' strike.
The six-part series, starring comedians Matt Lucas and David Walliams, had been tipped to follow in the steps of Ricky Gervais' The Office by becoming a hit on both sides of the Atlantic. It was scheduled to begin shooting in the U.S. this autumn (07) and was already "pretty much written."
But the show - which had been scheduled to hit screens next year (08) on TV network HBO - is now hanging in the balance.
Lucas, 33, says, "We're members of the Writers Guild of America so our show is on hold. We obviously didn't want to break the strike, so we're just waiting for them to reach an agreement."
Members of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) began their industrial action on 5 November (07) in a bid to get more money from DVD and internet sales.
