An attorney for BRITNEY SPEARS has pleaded with a court commissioner to prevent Los Angeles county authorities from viewing court filings in the pop star's ongoing custody battle with ex-husband KEVIN FEDERLINE - fearing intimate details of the case could be leaked to the press.

Thomas Paine Dunlap, who is representing Spears, argued in a hearing on Monday (26Nov07) the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services is a "large bureaucracy with thousands of employees" where sensitive information about the case is not safe.

The department is currently investigating Spears' parenting skills. Federline's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, also asked for the court to consider only turning over "relevant" files. Superior Court Commissioner Scott M. Gordon's decision was not disclosed.

Spears and Federline will be back in court on 23 January (08), to resume the custody battle over their two sons - Sean Preston, two, and one-year-old Jayden James.
