Electronic Arts has published a patch for its Macintosh conversion of Madden NFL 08, the American football game. The update -- v942 -- is available for download from Macgamefiles.com.

The update adds Roster Update 3, which allows Mac users to play against PC users online. There's also a fix to enable MadCatz gamepads to work; previously, the directional pad (d-pad) would malfunction. Dock icons now show up properly on Mac OS X v10.5 "Leopard."

A workaround has also been enabled in this patch to enable the games to work on Macs equipped with Radeon HD 2400 and 2600 graphics processors (new aluminum iMacs, for example). EA refers to the graphics chips by their code-name designation, "R600," in the patch's release notes.
