WEC 31 took place on Wednesday at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada and will aired live on the Versus Network. The Results:
*Featherweight championship bout: Urijah Faber vs. Jeff Curran
Faber defeats Curran via Submission (Guillotine Choke) at 4:34 of round 2. Faber retains the WEC Featherweight Championship
*Middleweight championship bout: Paulo Filho vs. Chael Sonnen
Filho defeats Sonnen bia Referee Stoppage (Armbar) at 4:55 of round 2. Filho retains the WEC Middleweight Championship. Filho's victory was controversial because Sonnen did not appear to submit, but the referee stopped the fight regardless.
*Light Heavyweight Championship bout: Doug Marshall vs. Ariel Gandulla
Marshall defeats Gandulla via Submission (Armbar) at 0:55 of round 1. Marshall retains the WEC Light Heavyweight championship.
*Featherweight bout: Jens Pulver vs. Cub Swanson
Pulver defeats Swanson via Submission (Anaconda Choke) at 0:35 of round 1. This fight was Pulver's WEC debut.
*Welterweight bout: Todd Moore vs. John Alessio
Alessio defeats Moore via unanimous decision.
*Middleweight bout: Bryan Baker vs. Eric Schambari
