Britney Spears has been released from a hospital psychiatric ward six days after being admitted following an apparent breakdown.
The singer's release was low key compared to her admittance, police said.
When she was taken to hospital on January 31, she was accompanied by more than a dozen police motorbikes and two helicopters.
Capain Sharyn Buck, commander of the North Hollywood police station which covers the area of Spears' home, said of her release: "It occurred without any law enforcement intervention, and for the public that's a good thing."
Spears was being treated at UCLA Medical Centre after her behavious became increasingly erratic.
A Superior Court commissioner subsequently placed Spears and her estate under temporary custodianship, which expires on February 14.
Her father, James, was named custodian and he and a lawyer were made co-conservators of the estate.
While she was being treated her family took out a restraining order against her friend and manager Sam Lutfi.
In court papers they accused him of drugging the 26-year-old singer, cutting her phone lines and trying to control her home, life and finances.
The papers also accused him of controlling the paparazzi who have hounded the star for months "like a general".
