We are living in the age of superheroes.

Movie theaters all over the country are showcasing men and women with super-strength, super-skill, and super-intelligence, who have the ability to streak through the sky, control the weather, read minds, and even stop time. Some are extraordinary, born into immortality and responsibility; others are mortals, faced with extraordinary challenges, who choose to rise above their nature in order to serve the greater causes of justice and the protection of the innocents.

Thus, it should be no surprise that when Eric Young, a man who calls himself ‘Showtime’, was forced to look deep within himself, it wasn’t just courage that he found. It was a whole separate man: a man of courage; a man of strength; a man who could look the devil in the eye and not flinch for a second.

Enter ‘Super Eric’, a hero that could come straight from the bright lights of the silver screen.

When fear caused ‘Showtime’ to flee the ring in the middle of his match at Destination X, it was ‘Super Eric’ that returned to save the day. Through his new alter-ego, Eric Young was able to battle not just the monsters in the ring, but also the inner demons that had caused him so much anxiety for so long.

The end result? ‘Super Eric’ used his new-found inner and physical strength to lift both Rellik and Black Reign over his head and slam them to the mat with a Death Valley Driver, leading to victory for Eric and his tag partner Kaz.

But that was only the beginning for ‘Super Eric’. The first chapter of any superhero story is the struggle to come to grips with your own fears and doubts and make the decision to fight the good fight.

Now comes the sequel. If life imitates art, then we need only to look to those superhero movies to find out what ‘Super Eric’ can expect now. The danger will be raised, and the evil will only grow stronger, for the birth of a new hero will fuel the hatred that drives the heart of the beasts.

At Destination X, ‘Super Eric’ won the battle, but the war is not over. Rellik and Black Reign are not gone. They were back at iMPACT this week, and they were seeking revenge.

But this time something was different. Gone are the days of Eric Young running away from the monsters. This time, after ‘Super Eric’ was called out by Black Reign and Rellik, it was the monsters that fled the ring as ‘Super Eric’ stood tall and proud in the ring.

Eric Young has taken the first step. He has conquered his fear and proven to the world, and most importantly himself, that he can beat the monsters. But he can’t stop there. He can’t just sit back and rest, satisfied with his accomplishment. The monsters are scared, but not defeated. Eric must continue to fight the demons, both external and internal, until good can prevail once and for all.
