THE FOLLOWING IS A NEW ARTICLE FROM THE BOSTON HERALD NEWSPAPER:

The action wasn’t exclusively in the Octagon last Saturday night when UFC 60 went down at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Among the 14,802 to witness LA’s first UFC show, many were of the star variety. Cheering from the floor were UFC regulars Michael Clarke Duncan (“The Green Mile”), James Caan and supermodel Cindy Crawford. Joining them were Hollywood stars The Rock (Dwayne Johnson), Adam Sandler and Nicolas Cage (with wife Alice Kim).

Also in attendance were Saturday Night Live funnymen David Spade and Kevin Nealon, "Entourage" stars Jeremy Piven and Adrian Grenier, “Lost” bad Michelle Rodriguez, and Damon Wayans. And, dressed to kill, as was Paris Hilton. After watching Matt take out Royce Gracie, many of these celebrities also hit swank UFC after-party Duncan at The Standard Downtown.

More and more events

For fans seeking nonstop UFC action, Vegas will provide the cure for three straight weeks at the end of June and start of July. The UFC has three events on the roster, the first being The Ultimate Fighter Season 3 Finale taking place on June 24 and airing live on Spike TV. Dover’s Kenny Florian will make his return to the Octagon to fight Sam Stout in the headline match.

The next event is an Ultimate Fight Night on June 28, which also airs live on Spike TV.

The final show is a major pay-per-view event on July 8 — UFC 61: BITTER RIVALS — taking place from Mandalay Bay Events Center. Tickets for UFC 61 went on sale last Sunday 10 a.m., and with a couple thousand tickets still available, this event is likely be the fastest UFC sellout to date.

Hablamos Espanol

To further quench the global thirst for the sport, the UFC just launched “UFC en Espanol,” a new multi-media Spanish-language Web site that offers UFC content and information in Spanish, much like the highly popular UFC Web site www.ufc.com.

“The UFC now makes its latest news, content, event information and videos available in the Spanish language for mixed martial arts fans in the U.S and abroad,” said UFC president Dana White. UFC en Espanol is just the first many new initiatives to bring the UFC to new audiences around the world.”

“UFC en Espanol” can be accessed through www.ufc.com by selecting “UFC en Espanol” from the left sidebar menu, or directly logging on to www.ufcespanol. com. The site provides compelling news, fighter interviews, event schedules, fighter biographies and commentary translated to Spanish.

White reports that more than million unique visitors hit the UFC site in the month of May and a large portion of that were visitors “UFC en Espanol.”

Ultimate Fighter 4 update

Production of The Ultimate Fighter 4 is in full swing and the inside scoop is that this season will give fans the best fights they’ve seen on the show yet.

“The fights on this show are awesome,” said White. “These fighters are all seasoned veterans, they all know what they want, they all want to win, and because of their skill level the fights are incredible. These are pay-per-view quality fights that you can see live on Spike TV.”

White also stated that the Boston area is represented in the show, with an area fighter vying for the six-figure, multi-year contract.

Liddell back at it

The UFC will bring the Iceman back to the Octagon to take Brazilian Renato Babalu Sobral UFC 62, taking place at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on Saturday, August 26. Liddell will put his light heavyweight up for grabs against Sobral, light heavyweight who has his last nine fights in a row. Other fights for that date will be announced soon.
