Australia midfielder Marco Bresciano has been cleared to resume training after spending two days in bed with an ear infection.

Bresciano missed Wednesday's friendly against Liechtenstein after doctors gave him antibiotics and cortisone to help clear up the problem.

Bresciano said his right ear was still painful but doctors said he should be able to join his team mates for practice.

"I've had it for about four or five days but a couple of nights ago I couldn't sleep," he told reporters at the team's hotel on Thursday.

"I'm actually feeling a lot better, I've still got pain but it's bearable now.

Australia play their first FIFA World Cup™ match against Japan on Monday and Bresciano, who plays his club football in Italy with Parma, is considered an automatic selection if fit.

"I wasn't training when I was in pain, I was just in bed... but there wasn't any imbalance or anything.

"They've told me I've got no problems so hopefully today I'll be out training."
