As Smackdown! starts, The Miz is here, and tonight there will be a Summer Kick-Off Bikini Contest between the Smackdown! Divas, and the main event will be Rey Mysterio vs. Finlay (Hoo-Rah!)!
In the arena:
To kick off the night, out comes the British manservant William Regal, and in the ring is the majestic throne for (guess who?) King Booker. First, Regal shows a montage video of Lashley’s win over Booker, and the after-match attack, where Finlay & Regal made Lashley kiss the King’s feet. And now…All Hail King Booker! But here comes Lashley, as the big man attacks Regal from behind and beats the hell out of Regal! Officials manage to restrain Lashley…for about 2 seconds, before Lashley breaks free and continues the beatdown, until the officials are actually able to keep Lashley down. Holla holla, here comes Teddy Long, who gives Big Bobby a match with William Regal later tonight, and if Lashley wins, he gets King Booker!
Batista Returns:
Batista is coming back in 28 days!
Super Crazy vs. Brian Kendrick
Referee: Chris Kay
The start:
Both Mexicools come out in their signature Juan Deere tractors, followed up by the Kabuki-mask adorned WWE Tag Team Champions Kendrick & London. A quick lock-up starts it up, and both men go into a test of strength, as Crazy takes Kendrick down, and they do the leg-pendulum spot, and both men go into a hurricanrana/sunset flip counters, followed up by quick arm drags and some decent chain wrestling to a great show of respect from the crowd.
Mid-match notes:
Kendrick grabs a front face lock, which Super Crazy reverses into his own, and Crazy gets taken down by a shoulder charge, but pops up and hits Kendrick with a backbreaker for 2. Kendrick dodges Crazy and lands a sidekick to the jaw for 2, but Crazy gets the momentum back with a corner clothesline, and hits a spin-out tornado powerbomb for a 2 count, and locks in a Mexican surfboard-chinlock submission. Kendrick reverses a slam attempt into a small package pin for a 2 count, but Crazy hits Kendrick with a big kick to the face, and gets in a stump puller submission, and drops the leg to cap it off, earning another 2 count.
The Finish:
Crazy grabs an elevated chinlock, and attempts a suplex, but Kendrick reverses into a small package into another 2 count. Crazy takes down Kendrick with a harsh clothesline, and grabs the chinlock again, but Kendrick elbows out, and successfully reverses another powerbomb into a swinging DDT for a believable near fall. Crazy straddles Kendrick up top, and the Insane Luchador performs a moonsault uranage slam off the top for the win!
Winner: Super Crazy
The Aftermath:
Suddenly, the Great Khali arrives with Daivari, as the Mexicools scatter, but London & Kendrick aren’t so lucky. Khali goozles Kendrick, but London comes in with a good chair shot to the back, which merely angers Khali! Khali tosses London out, and tosses Kendrick a good 10 feet onto London below! Khali goes after Super Crazy, and proceeds to deliver the Choke Bomb to Crazy, as Psicosis scatters, utterly afraid…
Backstage:
As we return, Michael Cole talks about Paul Heyman’s offer to Rey Mysterio to join the new ECW. Backstage, Kristal interviews Finlay, and tries to ask Finlay about his small Irishman, but Finlay clamps her mouth shut, and says he doesn’t care where Rey goes (even to the World Cup, where they could “use his head as a ball!”), and says that his name is Finlay, and he’s in for the fight of his life!
Backstage:
Backstage, the heel Cruiserweights (Helms, Simon Dean, Kash & Noble) bicker with Nunzio, when Vito walks in with a white dress (ugh), and Nunzio tells Vito to quit dressing like he has in recent weeks. Vito comes back by saying that he is the toughest guy in the locker room, and the toughest guy to wear a dress, and that next up, he will face Nunzio one-on one, and show him what kind of a man he is.
Nunzio vs. Vito
Referee: Jim Korderas
The start:
Vito enters with new music and the same white dress, and Nunzio shakes his head at the sight of the big man. Vito takes Nunzio down with a lariat, and hits some stiff forearms against the back. Vito drops the elbow, and throws knuckles at Nunzio’s skull, but the Shooter slugs back, only to get a knee to the head.
The Finish:
Vito catches Nunzio in mid-air, and charges Nunzio in the corner a few times, and follows up with a stiff kick to the chest. Vito gets in a headlock, and shoves Nunzio down, but Nunzio takes him down with a front missile dropkick, which earns him 2. Vito nails a big right hand, and hits a spinning Impaler DDT for the win.
Winner: Vito
Tonight:
A promo for the always-entertaining Mr. Kennedy is played, and he’s here tonight!
Non Title Match
William Regal vs. Bobby Lashley
Referee: Charles Robinson
Out comes the Queen Sharmell, who introduces his Highness, King Booker. Booker wears a fancy white tux under his “imperial robe”, and takes his place at the throne. It’s all hail the King, until the familiar strains of Bobby Lashley’s music hits, and out comes the big man, who gets jumped right off the bat by the southpaw Regal. Lashley, who hasn’t even gotten his belt off yet, gets dragged to the ring for his match.
The start:
Regal hammers Lashley in the corner to start, and boots Lashley in the corner, only to get taken down by some high-impact offense and a big vertical suplex. Lashley gets his knee hung up in the ropes, as Regal goes to town on Lashley, and locks in a modified sleeper hold, until Big Bobby gets up, and hits a back body drop on Regal. Regal hits some more left hands in the corner, and gets a signature knee drop for a couple of 2 counts, and proceeds to lock in a modified Crossface, but Lashley explodes into the corner on Regal with some big offense, and slams Lashley for a 2 count, but Regal comes back and locks in a standing arm stretch followed by some offense, all which earns a few more 2 counts.
The Finish:
Regal uses the knee scrape for some heel tactics, and goes for a submission, but Lashley gets a boot on Regal, and hits two belly-to-belly suplexes on the court jester, and goes for the Dominator, but Regal reverses and Lashley gets dumped outside. Regal goes to use the chair, but Lashley explodes with the Spear! The referee counts all the way to 10, with Lashley on the inside, and Regal gets counted out!
Winner by count out, the United States Champion: Bobby Lashley
The Aftermath:
After the match is over, and as Booker stews, Lashley only says “You’re mine!” Up next is the bikini contest, hosted by The Miz!
In the arena:
Back in the ring, it’s time for the Diva bikini contest! It’s going to be Ashley, Jillian, Kristal and “Ms. McCool”, all looking great. Ashley starts off in an amazingly skimpy black bikini (which would have gotten Smackdown thrown off years ago), followed by Jillian in a slightly bigger green bikini, but Kristal ups the ante with a butterfly-colored bikini, with a skimp factor mirroring Ashley’s. Michelle goes to take hers off, but stops and says that she hates the media lambasting of female teachers, who have “extra-curricular” with their students, saying that teachers have needs, too (Yikes!). She then concludes by saying that the Divas have C+ figures, and that no one in the building deserves her A+ figure or her needs! Ashley wins by applause factor.
Mark Henry vs. Raymond Rowe
Referee: Chris Kay
The match:
Match starts with a huge clothesline from Henry, followed by three huge splashes in the corner, and tosses the young man across the ring, and hits the World’s Strongest Slam twice for the easy win.
Winner: Mark Henry
The Aftermath:
Afterwards, Henry lays down the challenge for Batista, when The Animal returns in 28 days.
Ken Kennedy vs. Scotty Too Hotty
Referee: Jim Korderas
The mike comes down, he is back, he is the man who is single-handedly changing Friday nights, and he is MISTER KENNNNEDDDY....KENNEDDDY. The crowd is totally into Kennedy, as he attacks S2H right off the bat.
The match:
Scotty fires back with some slaps and a hip toss, and rolls up Kennedy for 1, but gets caught by a big knee to the face. Kennedy catches Scotty with a clothesline as he skins the cat back inside, which garners Kennedy 2, and Ken chokes Scotty in the ropes. Kennedy & Scotty trade shots, and Scotty quickly gains the upper hand with his strikes, but Kennedy fires back with a lariat to the back of the neck. Kennedy climbs up top (sans Scotty), and to everyone’s surprise, nails a Senton (Kenton?) Bomb for the win!
Winner: Ken Kennedy
Backstage:
Backstage, Rey suits up, and is greeted by Chavo, and Rey says that he knows what to say; to which Chavo says he will support him. Rey thanks Chavo for taking a chair shot from JBL, and asks Chavo if he has reconsidered coming back to the ring, but Chavo refuses. Rey prods Chavo a little more, and tells him not to make up his mind so quickly in this business.
In the arena:
As we return, Michael Cole is in the ring, and is about to introduce Rey Mysterio, but Tazz gets on the microphone and enters the ring. Tazz takes off the shades, and says to Jerry Lawler that at One Night Stand, he will choke out The King, and swears on his child he will do so! He then says that Tazz is going where Tazz belongs, that is “home”, back to ECW, for good! Tazz then says goodbye, and shoves the mike into Cole’s chest, before meeting Paul Heyman on the ramp, and celebrating Tazz’s move with a hug.
Cole seems miffed about Tazz’s decision, but Heyman dismisses Cole and takes over the mike. Heyman says that while the fact that the Raw & Smackdown defections do not go over well with the WWE, it is great for the ECW guys. Heyman puts over Rob Van Dam, Kurt Angle and Tazz, and says that he did offer Rey to join ECW, and says that One Night Stand doesn’t have to be just that, and that ECW would accept Rey back with open arms. Rey comes out soon after, cutting off Heyman, and enters the ring to speak his piece. Rey says that ECW was the first place that gave Rey his break in the States, and says that there has only been one home for Rey Mysterio…and that’s Smackdown! Rey talks about Smackdown being where he won the World Title, and says the WWE fans are his people, and he’s going to stay. Heyman, in a class act, thanks Rey for his consideration and says he is a great man, and wishes him luck…because he might need it. At this, Finlay enters with his shillelagh, and their match is next.
Non Title Match
Finlay vs. Rey Mysterio (c)Referee: Nick Patrick
The start:
The match starts as we return, with Paul Heyman on commentary with Cole. Finlay & Rey lock up, and Rey gets a clean break, and both men slap each other. Finlay gets a standing switch into a takedown, followed up by a vertical suplex and a pendulum backbreaker (smooth!). Finlay slaps Rey and delivers a clothesline, and locks in a shoulder claw (as Heyman puts over Finlay), but Rey comes back with knee strikes and stiff kicks, and caps it off with a twisting tilt-a-whirl head scissors attack.
Mid-match notes:
Rey sets up for the 619, but Finlay rolls out, but gets caught with a dropkick to the outside. Suddenly, Finlay’s “little friend” drags Rey under the ring, and Finlay (after disposing of his friend) shoves Rey back inside. Finlay drops the elbow, and hits a scoop slam before locking in the stump puller, which Rey gets out of, but Finlay comes back with a Steiner Recliner, which Rey also gets out of.
The Finish:
Finlay hits a backbreaker, and gets on the offense, but Rey gains the momentum with an inverted version of the “10 Punch”, and takes Finlay down with a DDT fir a 2-count. Rey reverses a sunset flip into a dropkick to the face for 2, and sets up Finlay for the 619, but Sabu comes in and distracts Rey! The referee turns his back, giving Finlay time to hit the shillelagh and nail the Celtic Cross for the WIN!
Winner: Finlay
The Aftermath:
After the match ends, Finlay exits, but Sabu is not finished! Sabu throws the chair right into Mysterio’s skull, and then gets the table! Sabu sets up Rey, then stands the chair up inside the ring, and jumps from the chair, and springboards into a leg drop, putting Mysterio through the table! ECW One Night Stand, this Sunday!
