A patch which helps women regain their sex drive will be made available on the NHS this week.

Makers of Intrinsa say it could do for women what Viagra did for men.

It will only be made available on prescription for postmenopausal patients with diagnosed sexual problems.

However, the Daily Mail believes it will soon become a "lifestyle drug" like Viagra, used by people with no medical condition who simply want to spice up their sex life.

It says 60% of the men who use Viagra have no erectile problems.

Intrinsa, made by Procter and Gamble, slowly releases testosterone - levels of which decline with age - into the bloodstream.

The hormone occurs naturally in men and women.

However, some medical experts do not feel one drug can solve the complex issues behind sexual dysfunction.
