WWE has sold 40,000 tickets for $4.8 million for WrestleMania 25 in its first weekend of sales. With the early success, this could become the largest gate revenue in pro wrestling history. There will be 79,000 seats available for the event. The cheapest ticket prices were $40.

WWE has been pushing the sales of the PPV more so than ever. There have been commercials promoting the on-sale date all week. There are plans for another advertising campaign before the end of the year. Tickets have been purchased from fans in all 50 states and from 24 countries.

Last year’s WrestleMania in Orlando, FL had 74,635 in attendance and set the gate record with $5,854,590. The general feeling is that Houston would do better because it’s a traditional wrestling market unlike Orlando. There is some skepticism within WWE on how well WrestleMania 25 will do because of the economy and Hurricane Ike.
