- Prior to John Cena’s injury at Summerslam that put him on the shelf for a few months, WWE booked a mini-love interest storyline between Cena and former Women’s champion Mickie James on Raw. Mickie coyly said in an interview she doesn’t remember anything about that. “It was kind of one of those storylines they just did for a few weeks and then, I really don’t know,” Mickie told Kevin Eck of the Baltimore Sun.

On a more serious topic related to her in the Women’s division, Mickie says they’ve been given more of an opportunity to showcase their in-ring talent rather than being sucked into lingerie pillow fight-type matches. “When I first came in, there were the girls who could wrestle and the girls who didn’t know how to,” Mickie said. “Girls who could wrestle were then pulled into the pillow fights and lingerie (matches).”

Mickie says they can give the male wrestlers a run for their money now. “Our women’s division has really strengthened,” she said. “We can go out there and put on just as good a show as any of the guys.” Mickie was recently on the USA Network show “Psych” where she played a rollerderby girl, and she would love more opportunities to do acting beyond WWE. “I would love to do more. It’s a different avenue as far as we act and entertain in wrestling, but we get one take to get it right,” Mickie said. “It was cool to be able to play with it and do different takes.”
