Security tweaks also included in the new version
The Opera team of developers has announced that the latest stable version of its web browser, Opera 9.63, now incorporates the Opera Presto 2.1.1 user agent engine. Available as a free download, Mac users can grab the new version of the feature-packed web browser right now!

As for the security tweaks available with Opera 9.63, Opera Software has fixed the following issues:

· Manipulating text input contents can allow execution of arbitrary code, as reported by Red XIII;
· HTML parsing flaw can cause Opera to execute arbitrary code, as reported by Alexios Fakos;
· Long hostnames in file: URLs can cause execution of arbitrary code;
· Script injection in feed preview can reveal contents of unrelated news feeds;
· Built-in XSLT templates can allow cross-site scripting (bug reported by Robert Swiecki of the Google Security Team);
· Fixed an issue that could reveal random data, as reported by Matthew of Hispasec Sistemas (details will be disclosed at a later date, according to the Opera Team);
· SVG images embedded using tags can no longer execute Java or plugin content.

10 days ago, the Opera Team released version 10.0 Alpha 1 to the public, stressing that the new launch contained the latest changes, but could potentially have severe known issues, including crashes and data loss situations. Showcasing its new Opera Presto 2.2 rendering engine, Opera Software stated,

“We optimized the Opera Presto 2.2 engine to be much faster on resource intensive pages such as Gmail and Facebook,” said the team behind the Opera browser. “With an Acid3 100/100 score, Web Fonts support, RGBA/HSLA color and SVG improvements, Opera 10 alpha is ready for the next generation of Web applications.”

To get either version of the web browser for Mac, use the download link available below. There are tons of enhancements to discover in the 10.0 Alpha 1 version, but you will need to proceed with caution when installing this new one. The Opera Team advises users to install the new iteration of the browser only on computers that are properly backed up. Should this not be the case with your machine, the least you can do is not replace previous Opera builds with this one. As for the 9.63 update, it should be solid as a rock.
