The Rock Injures Self Prepping For Movie Role
Wrestler-Turned-Actor Tears Achilles Tendon
BURBANK, Calif. -- "The Rock" won't be rolling around anytime soon.
The professional wrestler-turned-film star ruptured his Achilles tendon while getting ready to film a football-related movie.
The Rock, whose real name is Dwayne Johnson, is set to play a professional quarterback in the Disney comedy, "The Game Plan."
He will have surgery Friday in Miami and the shooting will be put on hold until he's able to resume his activities.
In a statement, The Rock said that he tried to be "as true to the character as possible," and like a pro athlete, ended up getting hurt.
He said he hopes he will be back to work soon -- with the help of, as he put it, "some TLC, pizza and a lot of doughnuts."
The Rock, 34, has also starred in such films as "The Mummy Returns," "The Scorpion King" and the "Get Shorty" sequel "Be Cool."
