Myleene Klass rejects ageism claims

Myleene Klass has hit back at Nicky Hambleton-Jones's criticism of her appointment as the new host of 10 Years Younger.

Hambleton-Jones, 37, described the news as a "slap in the face" earlier this month after previously fronting the Channel 4 show for four years.

Speaking at the time, she explained: "It does seem to me like a classic case of replacing any women over 35, regardless of how suitable she is for the role, with a younger face."

However, responding to the allegations, Klass told the Sunday Mirror: "Nicky did the job for a long time and I'm sure she was perfectly fine but I've never met the woman. Women would do themselves more favours by being kinder to each other instead of buying into the myth that it's a man's world. Age has nothing to do with it."

The 30-year-old star also insisted that she deserves her current success after working hard to keep a high profile since quitting pop band Hear'Say in 2002.

"I figured out years ago that I am what I am. I'm not the prettiest, the cleverest or the most talented," she explained. "But I'm a worker and I've grafted to make the absolute best of what I've got."
