Irish actors Colin Farrell and Gabriel Byrne were among the winners at the Golden Globes in Beverly Hills last night.

Farrell won the Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical award for 'In Bruges'; his co-star, Brendan Gleeson, had also been nominated in the category.

Byrne won the Best Actor in a Television Series (Drama) award for 'In Treatment'; Jonathan Rhys Meyers had also been nominated in the category for 'The Tudors'.
Slumdog Millionaire' won four awards: Best Film (Drama), Best Director (Danny Boyle), Best Screenplay (Simon Beaufoy) and Best Original Score (AR Rahman).

Kate Winslet was named Best Actress for her performance in 'Revolutionary Road' and Best Supporting Actress for 'The Reader'.

Mickey Rourke was named Best Actor for his performance in 'The Wrestler'.

Heath Ledger was posthumously awarded the Best Supporting Actor award for 'The Dark Knight'.

The award for Best Film (Comedy or Musical) went to Woody Allen's 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona' with Sally Hawkins named Best Actress (Comedy or Musical) for 'Happy-Go-Lucky'.

'Wall-E' won the Best Animated Film award with 'Waltz with Bashir' named Best Foreign Film.

Bruce Springsteen won the Best Original Song award for 'The Wrestler' from the film of the same name.
