Gardaí in west Cork say they are treating as suspicious the disappearance of a 60-year old woman from her home near Kilbrittain.

Ann Corcoran has been missing for a fortnight and gardaí are concerned for her safety.

Garda search teams spent the day combing the banks of the mill stream at Old Chapel near Bandon in west Cork after Ms Corcoran's green Peugeot 206 was found nearby yesterday.
It is the first lead in their investigation into Ms Corcoran's disappearance, who was last seen shopping in Bandon last Thursday week.

Ms Corcoran is 5' tall, of slim build and is described as a quiet, private person.

She lived alone at Maulskinlehane near Kilbrittain and was a widow with no children.

Search teams also examined the land around her home today. The house remains sealed off and is being technically examined.

Her car has now been taken to Dublin for a forensic examination, which detectives are hoping will yield clues to explain her disappearance.
