The Israeli military has bombed what it described as a weapons production facility in Gaza.

Two rocket attacks were reported on southern Israel earlier.

Israel said a missile was fired from Gaza towards the town of Ofakim, but fell in an unpopulated area.
That attack was claimed by the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, part of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement.

Yesterday, Hamas said it had fired several mortar rounds at Israeli troops making an incursion into Gaza.

This morning's raid targeted the town of Rafah, near the border with Egypt.

Witnesses said a metal foundry was damaged.

Separately, six Palestinian schoolchildren, a Hamas security officer and two other people are reported to have been wounded in an Israeli air strike in southern Gaza.

Witnesses said the raid struck Mohammed al-Sumeiri, a Hamas policeman, and his passenger as they rode a motorcycle in the town of Khan Yunis.

The air strike is the latest incident of violence that is threatening to shatter ceasefires that ended a 22-day war in the Palestinian territory on 18 January.
