A Polish pensioner sent his wife's car straight through the window of a butcher's shop when he tried to get the ignition key out of the dashboard for her.
Rudolf Wydra accidentally started up the car and sent it flying through the shop window, causing £7,000 damage in Rybnik.
Mr Wydra, 71, who doesn't have a licence and can't drive, promised to pay for all of the damage he caused.
His wife Felicja, 72, said: "I've been driving for 30 years, I've never had an accident - and now this disaster."
Shop worker Wioletta Kowalska, 39, said: "If the manager had not pulled me out of the way I would have been squashed flat like those sausages!
"Thank God there were no customers in the shop at the time."
