In all, 17 players were subject to enquiries from more than one franchisee.

Finally, seven players were traded.

The star trade turned out to be that of Zaheer Khan ( of the Bangalore Royal Challengers ), who was exchanged for Robin Uthappa ( of the Mumbai Indians). The duo will now turn out for their respective home cities.

Zaheer has been India's leading seam bowler for the last year and would have been disappointed with Bangalore's perfromance in the last edition of the IPL.

Robin Uthappa, who turned out for Mumbai, also had an average outing apart from a few significant bursts.

The other trades included India discard Ashish Nehra of the Mumbai Indians, for the very successful Shikhar Dhawan of the Delhi Daredevils.

Nehra and Dhawan, both Delhi lads, almost had contrasting shows in the first edition of the IPL.

Nehra did meet with limited success while middle order southpaw Dhawan blazed away with some sizzling knocks.

In a three way trade, Jaydev Shah of the Rajasthan Royals moved to the Mumbai Indians while Gaurav Dhiman of the Mumbai Indians will turn out for the Bangalore Royal Challengers. Meanwhile, Pankaj Singh of the Rajasthan Royals will don the red of the Bangalore Royal Challengers in the second season.

Pankaj Singh went on to give more than 10 runs per over in the inaugural edition and did not pick up a single wicket though he played five matches for the champion side.

The IPL auction for foreign players this Friday in Goa is set to see some sizzling action on the tables once the hammer goes down.

Up for sale will be the likes of Michale Clarke, Andrew Flintoff and Kevin Pietersen.
