Gardaí have launched an investigation after a 12-year-old boy was seriously injured in a crash in Bray in Co Wicklow.

The boy, who is from Spain, was on foot when he was hit by a bus on Herbert Road at around 5pm yesterday evening.

He was taken to Our Lady's Children's Hospital in Crumlin for treatment and was later transferred to Beaumont Hospital.
It is understood the boy's family has been notified and his father is travelling here from Spain.

Separately, the Avoca Road around Rathdrum village in Co Wicklow remains closed this morning following a crash last night.

Gardaí have asked motorists to take another route, adding that bad weather has lead to poor driving conditions in the area.

Two cars were involved in a collision on the Avoca Road at 7.50pm last night.

Two people were taken to St Colmcille's Hospital, Loughlinstown, where they are said to be in a stable condition.
