Gardaí investigating the disappearance of 60-year-old Anne Corcoran have found what they believe to be a body in a rural location near Ballinspittle, Co Cork.

The area has been cordoned-off pending the arrival of crime scene examiners from the Garda Technical Bureau.

The State Pathologist has been notified.
The 60-year-old woman has been missing from her home near Kilbrittain, west Cork, since 19 January.

Her green Peugeot 206 car was found abandoned around 6km away at Old Chapel outside Bandon.

Since then, garda search teams, the garda water and dog units, the Civil Defence and the public have been conducting a search for the missing woman.

Ms Corcoran lived alone at Maulskinlehane near Kilbrittain and was a widow with no children.

Her car has now been taken to Dublin for a forensic examination, which detectives are hoping will yield clues to explain her disappearance.

Gardaí are still questioning a 49-year-old man arrested yesterday.

He must be charge or released later this afternoon.
