The Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson-starring 'In Bruges' was among the winners at the British Academy Film Awards in London last night.

The film's director, Martin McDonagh, won the award for Best Original Screenplay.

'Slumdog Millionaire' won seven awards on the night: Best Film, Best Director (Danny Boyle), Best Adapted Screenplay (Simon Beaufoy), Best Music (AR Rahman), Best Cinematography (Antony Dod Mantle), Best Editing (Chris Dickens) and Best Sound (Glenn Freemantle, Resul Pookutty, Richard Pryke, Tom Sayers and Ian Tapp).
Mickey Rourke was named Best Actor for 'The Wrestler' with Kate Winslet winning Best Actress for 'The Reader'.

The late Heath Ledger was posthumously honoured with the Best Supporting Actor award for 'The Dark Knight' with Penelope Cruz winning Best Supporting Actress for 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona'.

'Man on Wire' won the award for Outstanding British Film, 'I've Loved You So Long' was named Best Foreign Film and 'WALL-E' was Best Animated Film.

Steve McQueen, the director and co-writer of 'Hunger', won the Carl Foreman Award for Special Achievement by a British Director, Writer or Producer for their First Feature Film.
