A 76-year-old man accused of trying to rob a fast food outlet in Belfast while armed with a kitchen knife has appeared in court.
Hugh McCaughey, of no fixed address, is accused of attempted robbery and having an offensive weapon at McDonalds in Donegall Place on Tuesday.
When asked if he understood the charges, the accused said he did and added "definitely not guilty".
He was remanded in custody to appear in court next week.
