Sydney's most famous bordello, A Touch of Class, is back in action, thanks to Underbelly.

The Surry Hills brothel, which has been closed for more than a year, will be used in a saucy scene of the top-rating crime series to be filmed on Friday.

"A few of the blokes are living it up and having a bit of a talk about what they are going to do next," the brothel manager, Peter Lazaris, said about the film shoot. "[They will be] living it up in a spa with champagne and girls and so on."

Mr Lazaris did not know which actors would be baring their bottoms but said the former working girls of his establishment were not involved.

He would not reveal how much it had cost to hire the Riley Street venue. However, he did say the brothel's Thai, Roman, and Egyptian-themed rooms would get a work-out.

The three linked terraces that formed the old brothel were put up for sale in October for $6.5 million, but failed to sell.

The crime drama continued its winning streak in Monday night's rating race with an average audience of almost 2.3 million.

Also on Channel Nine, the edited prime time broadcast of the Academy Awards, which followed Underbelly at 9.30pm, pulled an average 1.25 million. Nine won the night with a 35.9 per cent audience share, followed by Seven with 23.2 per cent.
