BEVILLES CORNER -- Wrestling fans can see the superstars of Florida Championship Wrestling Friday night at the 54th annual Sumter County Fair.

FCW currently serves as the developmental territory for World Wrestling Entertainment. The wrestling competition will feature 10 wrestling matches between potential and current WWE superstars, including two championship matches and a 20-man battle royal.

The key objective within FCW is to train the next generation of WWE superstars. Under the tutelage of Florida wrestling legend Steve Keirn.

FCW puts on live events all around the Southeast while promoting tryouts at the organization's headquarters in Tampa for young men and women interested in wrestling careers.

Current WWE athletes who have come from FCW include: ECW Champion Jack Swagger, Kofi Kingston, Ted DiBiase, Primo Colon, DH Smith, the Bella Twins, Evan Bourne, Ricky Ortiz and Tyson Kidd.

Before being established as a developmental organization for WWE in 2007, FCW based itself on the defunct Championship Wrestling from Florida promotion, which operated from 1961 to 1987. The original promotion featured top-drawing wrestling talent in Barry Windham, Mike Graham, Terry Funk, Roddy Piper, Ric Flair and Andre the Giant, according to the WWE.

Tickets are available for the Bushnell show at the Sumter County Fair office. Admission is $12 for adults, $8 for children, $20 for ringside reserved seats and $30 for "golden ringside," which provides first-row seating and an exclusive meet-and-greet with select wrestlers.

Doors open at 6 p.m. with bell time at 7:30 p.m.

Another show is scheduled for March 13 at the Lake County Fairgrounds Expo Center in Eustis, with a special autograph session including WWE Hall of Famer "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes prior to the event.
