Former AAA and WCW Star La Parka (now L.A. Par-k) has been battling AAA for the past 8 years over the rights to his name and gimmick. After leaving AAA for WCW in the late 90's, AAA trademarked the La Parka name and costume as their own. They then immediately crowned a new La Parka, La Parka Jr, Even though the Jr had no relation to the original. A decision that still has major backlash from Lucha libre purists around the world.

In a recent interview, The original La parka states brought up the still ongoing legal battle about his name.

his son has recently began wrestling under the name Black Shadow. He has been trained by his father, His uncle Super Parka and his cousin and TNA world X-Cup Champion Volador Jr.

In recent years, AAA has trademarked a number of masked wrestler gimmicks. The most noteable was Mascara Sagrada. his court battle lasted almost 10 years and he was finally able to retain his name. Another popular wrestler has his name and mask ripped from under him, former WCW star Psicosis. Psicosis made his last major american debut with WWE in 2005 without his trademark mask. So far, 3 wrestlers have worked under the Psicosis name in AAA. The last wrestler abruptly quit the company in 2008.
