Sales of Resident Evil 5 have gotten off to an impressive start. Kotaku reports that it has already shipped four million units. Though it's worth remembering that this is shipped units, not sold ones, it's also double the figure given for first-week shipments of Street Fighter 4. Resident Evil 5 has enjoyed a generally positive reception, so it's likely that most of these copies will sell through by the end of the month.
The game has also seen over 4 million downloads of the demo between the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, breaking Capcom's own internal records for a new Resident Evil launch. All signs show that the game is set to make a big mark when the March NPDs come out next month.--
