Eight people have been lightly injured in southern France by a man firing an air gun at parents collecting children from a nursery school, police say.
The shooting occurred shortly before midday in the heart of the city of Lyon, reports say.
The injuries were largely bruises and scratches, and no children were hurt, regional security official Xavier de Furst said.
Police have launched a hunt for the gunman who fled the scene.
"He used a compressed air weapon," said Mr Furst. "A lead pellet was found at the scene."
No-one was taken to hospital as a result of the shooting.
A security cordon has been set up around the school, and police squads deployed in the area.
State prosecutor Xavier Richaud said investigators had so far found no clues about the identity of the attacker.
"There are no witnesses, no one saw the shooter," he told the Associated Press. "It's certainly someone who is not a bad shot because it was windy."
