HER goodgirl reputation is hanging in the balance as Delta Goodrem fans try to work out what happened to the pop star when she called in sick at the Australian F1 Grand Prix on the weekend and went out clubbing.

Thousands of fans were left disappointed when Goodrem failed to front to sing the national anthem.

Citing a sore throat and a case of laryngitis, she sent her apologies and made herself scarce.

But only hours later, Goodrem was seen partying into the wee hours at several Melbourne nightclubs.

Goodrem hit the town that night with boyfriend Brian McFadden, Molly Meldrum and MTV presenter Ruby Rose.

"She was all glammed up in a black dress and black leggings," a spy said. "She didn't look sick at all, she looked amazing.

"(She was) seriously lacking in gig etiquette and not suffering from a lost voice, because she talked all the way through the set." Revellers said the celebrity group arrived at Boutique about 1am (AEDT).

Goodrem stayed for an hour at the club where F1 drivers Jenson Button and Nelson Piquet Jr were also partying.

Goodrem threw GP organisers into a spin when she pulled out of singing the anthem at 11.40am, saying she had laryngitis.

She had performed at a corporate function for Vodafone on Saturday night for a rumoured fee of $50,000.

The snub came after Goodrem's team had contacted the GP several weeks earlier and offered her services to sing the anthem.

She was not paid for the performance, but it is believed the Grand Prix Corporation offered her and McFadden business class airfares, VIP hospitality at the track and a ride in an F1 Minardi for McFadden on race morning valued at $7000.

McFadden was a no-show for the ride.

Despite this, McFadden still turned up for the race and took full advantage of the hospitality organised for Goodrem.

"We were disappointed that Delta cancelled on the day, but were delighted Jade McCrae could perform at such short notice. She was fantastic and the crowd loved her," GP spokeswoman Alison Wright said yesterday.

Goodrem's publicist yesterday declined to explain the singer's night on the town.
