The nine-year-old was released from Doncaster Royal Infirmary after undergoing two operations on his injured arm.

The youngster told the people who found him where to find his 11-year-old uncle and friend who was later discovered in a nearby wooded ravine.

He is still recovering in hospital and is said to be so shocked by his ordeal he bursts into tears if approached by strangers and is too bruised to be hugged.

Two young brothers, aged 10 and 11, appeared at Doncaster Youth Court on Tuesday accused of their attempted murder.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "The 11-year-old boy is still recovering in Doncaster Royal Infirmary after he was transferred from Sheffield Children's Hospital on Tuesday.

"The nine-year-old boy was released from hospital overnight."
