FAMILY FEUD: Tori Spelling, left, and Candy Spelling, right, are having a war of words over Aaron Spelling's death.
Candy Spelling has launched a bitter tirade against her daughter Tori, after the Beverly Hills 90210 star claimed she heard about her father's death via email.

The widow of the late TV legend Aaron was outraged when Tori claimed she had found out her father had died via an email from a friend.

Aaron Spelling - the creator of TV shows Dynasty and Charlie's Angels - died last month aged 83 after having a stroke.

In a statement, Candy fumed: "We are deeply saddened that, during our time of loss and grief, we are forced to respond to the media frenzy caused by the mean-spirited and surprising comments made by Tori.

"As we try to honour Aaron's memory with love and respect, the sudden frenzy she has created at this sensitive time is hurtful and very disturbing."

She continued: "Everyone deals with grief in a different way, and since Tori chose not to be here at that time, we believe she is having a harder time dealing with that loss. We understand how difficult it might have been for her to be here, and, perhaps, more difficult for her after she arrived.

"We hope Aaron will be remembered with reverence and spirit for the monumental legacy he has left and not for the petty headlines which have marred his articles of remembrance."
