Police and witnesses in Washington said a man was punched in the face after he snatched a Dallas Cowboys flag from a car that was stuck in traffic.
Lt. Eric Hayes of the Washington police's 2nd District said the man took the flag off the car at about 6 p.m. Tuesday, threw it to the ground and continued walking across the street, The Washington Post reported Wednesday.
However, Hayes said, "by the time he got across, someone exited the car" and struck him in the face.
A witness said the second man "got back in his car and drove off" after picking an object that may have been the flag up off the ground.
Witnesses said the flag snatcher fell face down on the pavement after he was struck.
"He was out cold for a good five minutes or so," the witness said.
Police said the man was treated for a bruised forehead.
