Claims that Kiefer Sutherland headbutted a man outside a nightclub are being investigated by police.
Fashion designer Jack McCollough said the incident happened around 2am on Tuesday in New York and he was cut on his face.
A police spokesman said McCollough claimed Kiefer attacked him after an argument at the club in the fashionable SoHo district of Manhattan.
No arrests have been made.
The police official said detectives were planning to interview Kiefer and possibly actress Brooke Shields, who may have seen the incident.
