Here are the results from the May 24, 2009 WWE Smackdown/ECW live event that took place at the Pan American Center in Las Cruces, NM.

A cool note from this show...In attendance in the front row was the eldest daughter (Shaul Guerrero) of the late great Eddie Guerrero. Las Cruces,NM is about an hour from El Paso, TX where Eddie was born and raised...more on this later.

Out comes Justin Roberts and welcomes us to the show and asks us to rise for the National Anthem.

First Match- Rey Mysterio def. Chris Jericho..match was for the IC Title..Jericho comes out and cuts a promo saying we wont see the 619 tonight and he promises to unmask Mysterio and take the IC title. Rey out to a big pop and slaps hands with ALOT of kids wearing his mask..those must have sold REALLY well tonight. Great back and forth action in this one. Jericho goes to get a chair on the outside and as he trys to enter the ring the ref steps out of the ring to grab chair from him which leaves Chris in a quasi 619 position and Rey takes advantage and delivers the 619 followed by a splash and pins Chris for the win. Rey did alot of Eddies signature taunts and poses throughout the match. After the match both he and Jericho (separately of course) went and hugged Shaul in the front row. Rey was pretty emotional at this point...pretty cool moment.

Now Justin locates Maria in the nosebleeds and she is about to upgrade someones seats. She asks a little kid who the womens champ is and he says "Maria" and she laughs and whispers the correct answer in his ear. The family is upgraded to the front row and now on to the second match.

Second Match- John Morrison def. Shelton Benjamin..Great match up with these two. Lots of reversals and cool moves by Morrison. Morrison makes a comeback and wins with a tornado DDT out of the corner.

Third Match- Gail Kim and Eve Torres def. Layla and Alicia Fox- This match was decent. Gail of course carried the brunt of the match with her athleticism. Eve Torres is getting better and she hit some real nice dropkicks. Gail got the win over Alicia after Eve took Layla out of the equation.

Fourth Match- Vladimir Kozlov def. Finlay...This one was a bore fest as Vladimir worked a body lock for at least 10 min...Finlay only had minimal offense and Kozlov eventually won with a chokeslam type maneuver.

Fifth Match- Christian and Tommy Dreamer def. Jack Swagger and Mark Henry...A interesting note here Christian and Dreamer were billed as "Power and Glory" during there joint entrance. Swagger and Henry entered separately but both wore medical masks a la the swine flu having its origins in Mexico and we weren't too far from the border...pretty funny to see that. Solid match for these guys. After taking Henry out of the equation Dreamer delivered his DDT and Christian followed up with a flying headbutt. At the end of the match Dreamer got the microphone and cut a promo about the fans all being a part of the legacy of the WWE Universe. He then mentioned an ECW original who he always considered a legend and one of the best in the World...Eddie Guerrero and that his eldest daughter Shaul was in attendance tonight...This was the first time she was openly revealed to the crowd. When he exited he took off his ECW shirt and gave it to her and Christian went over
and gave her a kiss on the cheek. Yet another cool moment.

Next Maria is brought back out and with two kids they throw out t-shirts and we go to a 10 min intermission.

Justin Roberts welcomes us back and then on to the next match.

Match Six-CM Punk Def. Dolph Ziggler...Dolph cuts a promo trying to introduce himself and the crowd boos him at every chance he tries to do so. The match started slow as both guys stalled by taunting each other by slicking their hair with their hands and throwing the excess water from their hair at one another, it was pretty funny stuff. The match saw Ziggler dominate for a few mins and then CM Punk counters a move which he turns into the GTS and let me tell you it looked awesome how Ziggler took it. It looked BRUTAL. A crazy and funny moment happend as Punk was celebrating his victory when a young fan (had to be no older than 9) who had the look of a crazed teenage girl at a backstreet boys concert, jumped in the ring without hesitation and hugged him and the WWE security took him down with one hand around the ankle from under the ropes and BAM!!! right on his face..I couldn't help but laugh. Poor kid was ejected

Match Seven- Cryme Tyme Def. Haas-Knox Connection...Match dominated by Knox and Haas until JTG hits the hot tag to Shad and he comes in and cleans house. JTG jumps off the top rope to Knox on the outside with a flying plancha of sorts. Shad hits the slam on Haas for the win. After the win it looked like JTG was hurt as he was walking back gingerly and it appears that the plancha really knocked the air out of him.

Justin thanks the crowd for coming and says they will be back to the Las Cruces/El Paso area in the very near future.

Match Eight- Edge def. Jeff Hardy...match was for the Heavyweight Title...Match dominated by Edge with Jeff getting a comeback going with alot of near falls. The crowd really was behind Hardy and thought he would walk out the new champ. Edge counter Hardy in the corner where he had exposed a turnbuckle and then he hits the spear for the 1-2-3. Edge then gets his belt acting like he is going to hit Hardy once he gets up and Hardy counters and then he hits the Swanton to lay out Edge and send everyone home happy. Edge plays to the crowd after recovering and Hardy had already gone to the back. He was upset that the crowd was booing him after he had won the match..his temper tantrum was comical.

Overall a GREAT show, everything that was advertised locally did take place and I applaud the WWE for that. I cant wait for them to come back.
