It is only four years since she answered an advert in The Stage newspaper 'seeking the next pop diva'.
Her next single, Boys and Girls, is to be released on August 31 and her debut album Turn It Up will be out in September.
Leicester-based rockers Kasabian are number one in the album chart with West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum.
It is their third album and completes a trio of number one albums for the group.
The band are currently on a 20-date nationwide tour including nine shows supporting Oasis.
They are also scheduled to play this year's Glastonbury Festival.
