Shock and dismay stormed across the American game scene in waves upon hearing word last week that Nintendo was working on new games starring Tingle, the lovable (?) magical (?) fairy (?) from the Legend of Zelda series. The truth may be even more than these gamers were prepared for: in addition to the Tingle-themed toolset released on DSiWare today in Japan, Nintendo is planning a new full-scale DS fantasy adventure starring the guy...and his quest to score with the ladies.
Called Irozuki Tingle no Koi no Balloon Trip (which I'll loosely translate as "Tingle the Nubile's Balloon Trip of Love"), the game covers everyone's favorite middle-aged wannabe pixie as he buys a mysterious book off TV and then sets off on a quest for women. Exact gameplay details are pretty slim, but the media passed out seems to paint Tingle's new game as a conversation-oriented adventure, a bit like Animal Crossing or obscure Wii release Captain Rainbow. Screenshots show Tingle searching for a job, giving presents to women he runs into, and getting thrown in jail after a rail-station guard accuses him of being a pervert. Couldn't see how that mistake could be made, no.
The new DS game has no announced price or release date in Japan yet. A US release seems approximately the most unlikely thing in the world.
