The online TV and movie streaming service Hulu has stopped working on the PlayStation 3 browser, at least for the time being. Users who have tried to watch videos have been greeted with the message, "Unfortunately, this video is not available on your platform. We apologize for any inconvenience." Engadget took a sharp look at the possible cause for the problem, and claims that "changing a browser's user-string to match the console reveals it is definitely being specifically blocked." This is all similar to the sudden blocking of the boxee browser in early March, though soon after it resumed functioning as normal.
In the ongoing (unnecessary) war of fanboys, Hulu has long been the PlayStation 3's answer to the Xbox 360 Netflix deal. Even if the 360 might be looking into support for the streaming video service, Hulu is ad-supported, so views from any browser helps the bottom line. Here's hoping that, like boxee, it mysteriously starts to work again soon.
