Valve is looking into ways to let Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 players hunt down zombies together, according to marketing VP Doug Lombardi. In an interview with TVG, Lombardi said it's "something that we're trying to work out the details of right now. So nothing specific to say today, but we understand that it's a very valid thing to be working on and looking at." He also pointed out that mods for the first game will be transferable to its sequel "with very minor amounts of work."
These steps should do something to appease the almost 40,000-strong boycott group on Steam, who claim that the sequel is coming too soon. One of the group's requests is "full compatibility with basic Left 4 Dead owners," but that's said in the context of wishing for Left 4 Dead 2 to be a free update or expansion. We'll see if Valve manages to work in the cross-game functionality, and if so, if it wins back some naysayers.
