Netflix on Xbox 360 is kind of a big deal -- big enough that the movie rental service has been looking into bringing their Watch Instantly feature over to other consoles. Now they've struck a deal with Sony, BusinessWeek reports, but it's not to bring streaming to PlayStation 3; rather, Sony Bravia televisions will support instant viewing of Netflix movies later this fall.
It may not be the news PS3 owners have been clamoring for, but it's certainly a step in the right direction. Analyst Tony Wible of investment firm Janney Montgomery Scott predicts that the Bravia deal has the potential to "pave the way for [Netflix] to make an appearance on the [PlayStation 3], which we note has blocked access to Hulu as of a couple weeks ago," adding, "While a PS3 deal would be strategic positive for Netflix, we believe investors are anticipating the news and it remains uncertain that a deal will ultimately improve Netflix 's financial outlook."

Just stay patient, Sony fans. Barring any exclusivity deals between Microsoft and Netflix, there's a solid chance you'll be able to stream this stuff eventually.
