WWE SmackDown/ECW Live Event Results
July 10th, 2009 - Manila, Philippines
Report by Sean Melendres

Site: Araneta Coliseum, Quezon City, Philippines (historical site of the 1975 "Thrilla In Manila" between Muhammad Ali & Joe Frasier)

Announced by: Justin Roberts

Referees: Marty Elias, Chad Patton

Results:

1. John Morrison defeated Shelton Benjamin by pinfall after the Starship Pain.

2. Mark Henry defeated Evan Bourne by pinfall after the World's Strongest Slam.

3. Melina & Gail Kim defeated Michelle McCool & Alicia Fox by pinfall after Gail did her finisher (I don't know what it's called) on Alicia Fox in a match in which Maria was the special guest referee.

Dolph Ziggler had some arrogant words for the crowd.
4. The Great Khali defeated Ziggler by pinfall after the Punjabi Plunge.

Tiffany announced a Triple Threat ECW Championship Match and introduced the participants.
5. Tommy Dreamer defeated Christian and Jack Swagger to retain his title.

Chris Jericho insulted the fans.
6. Rey Mysterio defeated Chris Jericho to retain the Intercontinental Championship in a match in which Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat was the special guest referee.

7. CM Punk defeated Jeff Hardy to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.

Notes:

1. Chris Jericho got the biggest pop. As he spoke, insult after insult, the crowd cheered and chanted "Y2J". His attempts to get in the crowd's disfavor and to remind them that the "Y2J" moniker is long gone were to no avail. Personally, I think he was the superstar of the night (and a totally cool and gracious guy when I met him).

2. Rey Mysterio was unmasked at one point but was quick to cover up and put it back on while on the outside. After the World title match, Jericho attacked Steamboat but Steamboat mounted some offense and Jericho retreated.

3. Jeff Hardy and CM Punk both had positive reactions. The contest saw a number of handshakes and handslaps until CM Punk threw the sportsmanship out the window.

4. After the ECW Championship Match, Tommy Dreamer invited a fan with a sign that read "Innovator Of Violence" to the ring, hugged the fan, and hung the ECW belt on the fan's shoulder.
