As recently as June, Blizzard insisted they still intend to release StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty this fall. But with the game's open beta test recently delayed, it looks less and less likely that Blizzard will make the deadline, and now Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia is predicting we will indeed have to wait until 2010 to get our hands on it.
Bhatia made the prediction to the Wall Street Journal (via GamesIndustry.biz), following Activision Blizzard's announcement that their upcoming first-person shooter Singularity was delayed into next year -- a fate that, according to Bhatia, "increasingly appear[s]" to be in store for StarCraft 2 as well.

Blizzard themselves have even said that while a 2009 release is the goal, they wouldn't hesitate to delay the game if they feel it's necessary. "We're not going to ship the game if it's not ready," said lead producer Chris Sigaty. Let's keep our fingers crossed that they do indeed make their desired date... but don't be too shocked if StarCraft 2 turns out to be delayed after all.
