The two police chiefs involved in Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick's surrogate plot have plead not guilty.

Barry Carpenter and Chad Dojack have been investigated for their alleged participation in breaking into the home of surrogate Michelle Ross in order to sell information on her to the tabloids.

Carpenter revealed that he did speak to a journalist from the National Enquirer prior to the birth of the pair's twin daughters Marion Loretta Elwell and Tabitha Hodge last month.

The Ohio-based law enforcement officials were jailed yesterday, along with Dojack's father-in-law Bruce Callarik, who is the son of the mayor of Bridgeport.

The men were arraigned earlier on 10 felony counts and plead not guilty to the charges, E! reports.

Carpenter faces two counts of burglary, one count of theft in office, one count of receiving stolen property, one count of unauthorised use of telecommunications property and one count of tampering with evidence.

Dojack received three charges, all tied to complicit-related acts that Carpenter is said to have orchestrated, including burglary and receiving stolen property.

Callarik was charged with a singular count of receiving stolen goods at the hotel that he runs and that Ross is believed to have stayed at.

Three separate trial dates have been scheduled. Carpenter has a status hearing on August 21 as well as a tentative trial date of October 20 and faces up to over 21 years in jail. Dojack will appear in court on November 17 and faces a 14-year prison term. Callarik's tribunal begins on December 1, while he may face 18 months of life behind bars.

Representatives for Parker and Broderick have not commented on the proceedings.
