It hasn't exactly been easygoing since launch, but Microsoft is still determined to make something of Games for Windows Live. They've just launched a substantial update, among other things adding an in-game marketplace, and a host of other features.
The marketplace is the update's most notable feature, bringing with it the ability to purchase downloadable content within the game itself. So if you suddenly feel like picking up the Street Fighter IV Brawler Pack while you're in the middle of a game, it'll all be right there.

Other features include in-game account management and improved ant-piracy measures. The latter feature includes server-side authentication, which links a game license to your Gamertag.

Games for Windows Live first launched back in 2007, where it came under fire for its lack of cross-platform Xbox 360 support and multiplayer premiums. Microsoft has since released a number of updates, removing the fees associated with multiplayer matchmaking and other features while including it in titles like Fallout 3.

The latest update is now available, so if you've been holding out until now so you can pick up your downloadable content in-game, this is your chance.
