John Zandig
Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW), the ultraviolent company that was founded by John Zandig in 1999, has a new owner in longtime CZW wrestler D.J. Hyde. The sale was announced at last nights CZW event in Philadelphia, PA.

News of the sale did not come as much of a surprise, as it'd become clear to people involved in the organization that Zandig had lost interest in running a wrestling promotion. Zandig had also negotiated with people in the past regarding a possible sale, so it was known that the desire to get out was there if the right deal came along. In the last two years especially, D.J. Hyde had become more involved in the running of the organization, and rumblings of a possible sale to him had been heard in the past.

As of now it appears Zandig will still occasionally appear for the company, as the sale has been used to set up a match between Hyde and him for an event scheduled for October in Delaware. While officially retired, Zandig still occasionally wrestles in the event of a no-show or when he gets the itch to perform, so I wouldn't expect that to change, as the most logical place would still be CZW should he decide to wrestle again.

The direction the company will take isn't known right now, but it will likely feature more Delaware events which is Hyde's home state. Maven Bentley's promoters license will still likely be used for Pennsylvania events, as Hyde and Bentley are friends. Creatively there shouldn't be much difference, though there are rumors that Hyde is interested in possibly developing a new booking committee.

CZW's next event is scheduled for September 12 at the Arena in Philadelphia, PA.
