Rumors of a PlayStation 3 price cut and/or redesign have been circulating for months, and in the U.K. strong evidence points towards something being up Sony's sleeve. MCV reports that retailers in the region are running dry on PS3 stock, fueling speculation that a hardware price drop is on the way. Two retailers have anonymously confirmed that despite running low, Sony will not be delivering any more supply until later this month or early September. "There are obviously lots of rumors flying about as to why that might be," one retailer said. "I don't think it's to do with demand, though. Sales are low at the moment and have been for a while." This casts all eyes on Sony's Gamescom presentation next week; if a price drop or the long-rumored PS3 Slim are in Sony's plans, that would be where they would make an appearance.
